Newsletter Edition 21- 2022 Awards
Principal's Message
As the year draws to a close I wish the members of the Emmanuel College community the blessings and joy of Christmas and for those who have time off a relaxing holiday.
2023 School Year commencement
We look forward to the return of all Emmanuel students on Tuesday 31 January, 2023. As in previous years, my first communication with Emmanuel families will be the principal’s letter at the start of term one, followed by College Newsletters fortnightly during term time.
Awards Night Success
In this final newsletter for 2022 we focus on congratulating students who received awards at last night’s Awards Night, or recognition in other forms. We are particularly proud of our Year 12 students who received their results from VCAA yesterday and will receive university offers in another week.
School raffle results
Thank you to everyone who supported the recent College raffle by purchasing tickets. The winner was chosen just prior to the commencement of the Awards Night and is the Jonah Family with ticket number 2303. The raffle conducted last year and this year enables us to proceed with the installation of new junior challenger course equipment in adjacent to the junior school and will be ready for students to enjoy when they return in 2023.
Year 12 Achievement
Congratulations to the Emmanuel College Year 12 students who completed their final year having experienced so much disruption to learning during Years 10 and 11. Despite this, their final results were excellent! Congratulations to dux of VCE Jace Nepean and dux of VCAL Joshua Thom. Jace received what we believe to be the first ATAR score of 99.95 by an Emmanuel student which included study scores of 50 in English and French. Jace also received a study score of 50 for Physics completed whilst in Year 11 attracting a Victorian Premier’s Award. We also congratulate Zac Houlihan with an ATAR of 98.4 and Will Pennington, 98.35, and Darcy O’Keefe and Clara Hunold who received study scores of 50 in Literature and German respectively. Once again, a number of subject duxes were from Year 11 and we further congratulate the 41 students who received study scores of 40 or higher.
A snapshot of ATAR achievement is:
- ATAR above 90: 10.2%
- ATAR above 80: 24.8%
- ATAR above 70: 43.8%
- ATAR above 60: 64.2%
- ATAR above 50: 81%
It is so pleasing to see the continued trajectory of academic achievement at Emmanuel College, proving it is a learning community with a diverse range of students and a place in which young people can achieve their academic goals to the very highest level
Peter Morgan,
Principal
